Ashtabula County District Library is thinking seriously of putting a levy issue on the ballot for the May 4 election. We know this isn’t a great time to do this, what with the local economy in tough shape and local governments and school districts also looking for new money.

But your library has lost more than one-third of the funding it had in 2001, most of the losses coming in the last year, and providing the level of service the community needs is becoming very nearly impossible.

So we invite you to a gathering Wednesday or Thursday to share refreshments and talk about the library’s future: prospects for passage of a levy, other means of replacing lost state funds, and how you might be able to help.

At Ashtabula Library 3-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday (Feb. 3)

or at Geneva Library, 3-5 or 6-9 pm on Thursday.

Please let us know you’re coming: reply here, or 997-9341 ext. 229 (Ashtabula), or 466-4521(Geneva). We’d love to see you.
